Extensive experience in a variety of settings

Connect OT is led by Simon Murnane, a highly experienced Occupational Therapist who qualified in Australia in 2002. Since then he has gained extensive experience working with clients in a variety of health and social care settings in the UK and Australia. He has worked in private practice, rehabilitation centres, local authority settings, community rehabilitation teams and hospitals. He has experience working with clients in a wide range of clinical fields including spinal cord injury, neurology, acquired brain injury, amputees and orthopaedics. He also has experience of working as a private case manager and as an expert witness.

Simon  has extensive experience of completing moving and handling risk assessments, recommending moving and handling equipment, providing moving plans for use by carers and family members and providing on site education and training for clients individual needs.

He has extensive experience in both the private and statutory sectors of providing home assessments and design of major and minor home adaptations for adults and children. As a specialist housing occupational therapist Simon is skilled at analysing the daily activities of his clients in their home environment and devising adaptation and equipment solutions to promote independence and well-being in their homes. He is passionate about accessible housing and the benefits that having a suitable property can have on a person’s life. He regularly works alongside architects, surveyors and builders in the design of large scale adaptations to properties.

Simon also has expertise in recommending specialist equipment and assistive technology to enable his clients to remain active and independent within their homes and communities.
